Privacy policy

How we handle your personal data on the vias.gr website and in the VIAS app.

This policy has two parts. Part A covers the vias.gr website: forms, tools and cookies. Part B covers the VIAS app and cloud service you use once your system is installed.

Part A · The vias.gr website

Data controller

The controller for data collected through this website is SIGMA Security, the official VIAS distributor in Greece.

What we collect and why

We only collect what you send us through the forms, and only after you give your consent in the relevant field.

  • Contact form: name, email, phone, subject and message, used to reply to your request.
  • Find an installer: name, phone, email, area, type of premises, message and, if you choose, the product list from the Selection guide. We use them to put you in touch with a certified VIAS installer in your area, and for that purpose we pass them on to the installer who takes on your request.
  • Partner application: name, company, email, phone, areas of activity and message, used to assess your application and contact you.
  • Technical data: the date and IP address are logged with each form, for site security and to prevent abuse (spam).

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and handling your request before any contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). For security logs it is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

Who has access

  • SIGMA Security sales and support staff.
  • The VIAS installer your request is forwarded to (Find an installer form only).
  • Our technical service providers, as processors: the website hosting company, our email provider (Google Workspace) and Cloudflare (form protection).
  • Public authorities, only where required by law.

How long we keep it

Form data is kept for as long as needed to handle your request and then for up to 2 years to follow up, after which it is deleted. If you become a customer or partner, the retention periods required by tax and commercial law apply.

Cookies and browser storage

  • Essential: the site does not need cookies to work.
  • Tools: the Selection guide, Comparison, Quote, Battery planner and other tools save your choices only in your own browser (localStorage) so they are not lost if you close the page. They are not sent to us. You can clear them in your browser settings.
  • Analytics: we do not use analytics or advertising tools. If added in future, they will only load with your consent.
  • Form protection: forms are protected against automated abuse with Cloudflare Turnstile. For this check Cloudflare receives technical browser data and your IP address. It does not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites (Cloudflare policy).
  • YouTube videos: preview images load from YouTube’s servers. A video only starts when you click it, in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
  • Fonts: hosted on our own server, with no connection to third parties.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before. Email sales@sigmasec.gr and we will reply within one month.

If you believe your rights have been infringed, you can lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (1-3 Kifisias Ave, 115 23 Athens).

Security and links

The site only works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and forms are protected against automated abuse. The site links to other websites (e.g. SIGMA B2B, Google Play, App Store, YouTube), which have their own privacy policies.

Part B · The VIAS app and cloud service

In order to provide the VIAS service, we sometimes need to collect information about you. This part explains what information may be collected, how it is used and whether it is disclosed to anyone else.

What information VIAS collects

When you create an account in the app, your user name and email address are collected, and optionally your location and a contact number. This enables VIAS (and, where applicable, its security contractors) to provide the products and services you select. Information about the way you use the service may also be collected.

When you add IP cameras to your account, the system scans your local network and returns information about the VIAS devices on it to the servers, so it can discover your cameras and add them. This device data is stored for support and service improvement and is not used for any other purpose.

Video and audio recordings from cameras or control panels are captured, processed and retained for the duration of your recording subscription (e.g. 10 or 30 days), during which you can access them through the service.

No payment details such as card numbers are collected or stored. Payments are handled by payment processors (currently PayPal, Google or Apple).

Under the GDPR you remain the owner and controller of your video data; where VIAS stores it, VIAS acts as processor. Your video data is only viewed with your express permission, for example when it must be shared with a security contractor, under the strict restrictions below.

How the information is used

To provide the service, handle your requests and for service administration, for example password reminders or maintenance notices. Also to:

  1. contact you about something you submitted,
  2. inform you about services and products,
  3. personalise how the service is presented to you,
  4. use IP addresses to identify country, block abuse, count visits and improve the service.

Sharing with third parties

Your information is kept confidential except where (a) disclosure is required or permitted by law (e.g. a formal request from authorities or a court order), (b) you have consented, (c) it is reasonably necessary to protect the legal rights or property of VIAS, a customer or a third party, or to prevent personal injury, or (d) data must be transferred to a third party following a sale, merger, assignment or other transfer of all or part of the business.

Data protection

Personal data is held electronically, including in the cloud. All reasonable steps are taken to protect it against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure, including password protection and anti-virus software.

Where processing takes place

European Economic Area: for accounts in the VIAS European data region, processing complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

USA, Canada, Asia-Pacific: for accounts in these regions, data is processed solely in data centres in the US, Canada or Taiwan respectively, with physical, technical and organisational safeguards that mirror the EU ones. You will be notified promptly of any known unauthorised access to your data.
